#MeMeditating – Catarina

Welcome to Catarina’s #MeMeditating account – part of our #MeMeditating series, where students share their real-life stories of how Vedic Meditation affects their lives.

Artisan weaver Catarina wrote to us a couple of months ago sharing her amazing #MeditationBenefits. She is continually delighted to witness her progress, over three years after learning to meditate with us.

I’m Catarina.

My life feels so different now as a meditator — much richer, less frantic and fearful, more true to myself. I learned to meditate with Michael a little over three years ago. I was curious and inspired to learn after witnessing my friend who had learned with Jillian and Michael some years before, and with whom I lived in a shared house at the time. I could not help but notice that there was something calmly exceptional about the way she went through life, how she engaged with other people and how she progressed her goals and dreams, always remaining true to herself.

Within my first year of having started to meditate important areas in my life changed. It all made sense and felt right, weirdly even the difficult things.

One big change was that I found the belief in myself to fully embrace my career as an artisan weaver. After a change in my part-time job I took a leap of faith and decided to focus 100% of my time on my own creative practice for the first time since I started out. Very scary, big step! That same year I received substantial commissions and had my strongest year in business so far.

I have also noticed positive lifestyle changes such as better sleep, healthier diet, better immune system, better dealing with stress (drinking alcohol has become less and less interesting and I’ve now been completely teetotal for the past 6 months).

I am so grateful to have learned meditation and that this amazing tool has become part of my life. I couldn’t imagine it without it now that I know. I feel much more open and ready to whatever life has in store, at the same time really connected to and enthusiastic about what I do and just deeply grateful to be alive.
