#MeMeditating – India

Welcome to our new #MeMeditating series! Hear from our students as they share their real-life stories of how Vedic Meditation supported them during lockdown.

– April 2020 –

I’m India.

I learned to meditate August 2019.

I’d heard the endless list of benefits of meditation and listened to a couple of podcasts with Michael and Jillian so I started out as soon as I could. I love the ongoing support and community element they offer, as well as the ease of the practice. I’ve actually attended a group meditation during a trip to New York which was fun!

I’m in lockdown in my South London flat with my boyfriend. He was due to move in in a month, but we shifted it forwards, which has actually been such a treat and so nice to have this time together. We’re really lucky to have separate rooms to work in, outdoor space and our sisters are both around the corner so we can wave at them from afar which is lovely.

I feel a huge amount of compassion for everyone adversely affected, but personally I am enjoying it for the most part. I live my life 100mph so I’m revelling in the opportunity to slow down. I’m so privileged to be safe, well, employed and in my home with someone I love. Turns out I’m a closet homebody.

I work full-time and run a blog/two Instagram accounts (@theindiaedit + @themirroredit) and I’m lucky to be able to do both from home. We’ve also been doing some DIY and major sorting in our flat so all of that has kept me so busy so far. Paired with daily Pilates, a walk and two meditations I’m not sure how I had time to go out or see friends before all of this!

It’s comforting that whilst everything is changing, the constant is my meditation practice that I know I can turn to twice a day. I definitely think meditation has helped me to process everything that is happening and see the good there is around.
